Arie Mezer (1937–2023) was an Israeli civil engineer with a significant contribution to the field of engineering and infrastructure in Israel and worldwide. Throughout his career, he led large-scale projects, held senior managerial positions, and founded Mezer EDCS, which became a renowned name in the field of engineering planning, management, and supervision.

Early Career and International Activities

Arie Mezer began his professional career as an engineer at Mekorot, where he participated in the planning and execution of major engineering projects, including the Saline Water Carrier, the unification of the Kabri springs, and more. Later, he moved on to significant international activities, managing large-scale infrastructure projects in Iran, Africa, and especially in Nigeria.

In Nigeria, he served as the branch manager of WRD, which was responsible for the company's engineering operations in the field of infrastructure in West Africa. Subsequently, he went on to work with Balasha Yalon, where he established a subsidiary in Nigeria for them and managed it for years. In his roles, he was responsible for the planning and management of major engineering projects, primarily in the field of infrastructure.

In addition to his activities in Africa, he led strategic projects on behalf of the United Nations, including the planning and establishment of the UNIFIL camp in Naqoura, Lebanon, which served as a base for the UN's international peacekeeping forces in the region.

Establishment of Metzer EDCS and Leadership in the Israeli Infrastructure Sector

In 1978, after many years of activity on the international stage, Arie decided to embark on an independent path and established Mezer EDCS. The company focused on planning, management, and supervision of complex projects in infrastructure, transportation, safety, and construction. Under his leadership, EDCS became a key player in the industry, with clients and strategic partners such as Netivei Israel, the Ministry of Housing and Construction, the Ministry of Defense, and KKL-JNF.

Legacy and Influence

Throughout his career, Arie implemented innovative approaches in the fields of infrastructure management, transportation safety, and civil engineering. He was considered a visionary engineer, meticulous and with high standards, who made a significant contribution to the development of engineering planning in Israel and other countries.

His two sons, Ron and Oz Mezer, continued his path and joined the company after completing their civil engineering studies at the Technion. Today, they serve as co-CEOs, leading the company forward while maintaining the values instilled by their father.

Arie left behind a vast professional and practical legacy, which continues to influence the field of engineering and infrastructure in Israel and worldwide.
